Instructor Renewal Process

Before You Schedule an Instructor Renewal

To proceed with AHA Instructor Renewal, you must be aligned with Begin CPR, Inc. as your Training Center.

Instructor renewal cannot be completed without active alignment.

We offer structured instructor renewal monitoring in accordance with American Heart Association Training Center guidelines. Renewal requirements vary by discipline.

BLS Instructor Renewal

(Virtual Monitoring Available)

BLS Instructor renewal may be completed virtually via Google Meet for eligible instructors.

The renewal process includes:

Review of current BLS teaching updates
Instructor monitoring conducted virtually
Skills demonstration and coaching review
Teaching flow and documentation discussion

Virtual monitoring applies to BLS Instructor renewal only.

ACLS & PALS Instructor Renewal

(In-Person Monitoring Required)

At this time, ACLS and PALS Instructor renewals must be completed in person.

Virtual monitoring is not available for:

ACLS Instructor renewal
PALS Instructor renewal

These renewals require:

In-person skills demonstration
Advanced scenario-based evaluation
On-site Training Center Faculty monitoring

Important Clarification

Virtual renewal options apply only to BLS Instructor certification.

ACLS and PALS Instructor renewals cannot be completed via Google Meet or other virtual platforms.

Provider-level courses (BLS, ACLS, PALS) always require hands-on skills sessions and are not eligible for virtual renewal.

What Virtual Monitoring Is — and Is Not

Virtual monitoring IS:

A review of instructor teaching skills
Demonstration of BLS skills for evaluation
Coaching and correction discussion
Teaching flow and documentation overview

Virtual monitoring is NOT:

A provider-level skills test
A paperwork audit
A full classroom session with students

Scheduling & Eligibility

Instructors must be aligned with an AHA Training Center
Instructor status must be current or within the allowable renewal window
Monitoring is scheduled by appointment
