If you need to cancel, our policy applies only when payment was made directly to us 📝 AHA Friends & Family CPR – Lesson Plan Course Length: 1.5–2 hours Audience: Parents, grandparents, babysitters, caregivers, community members Certification: Participation only (no eCard) 1. Welcome & Introduction (5 minutes) Introduce yourself and course purpose. Explain: This is a non-certification class to learn CPR skills for adults, children, and infants. Learning goals: Recognize emergencies, call for help, give CPR, use AED, relieve choking. 2. Video Module: Adult CPR & AED (15 minutes) Play AHA Friends & Family video (Adult CPR/AED). Practice: Check responsiveness & breathing. Call 911 & get AED. Perform high-quality compressions (rate, depth, full recoil). AED pad placement & shock. Instructor Coaching: Ensure correct hand placement, compression depth, and AED sequence. 3. Video Module: Child CPR & AED (15 minutes) Play AHA video segment (Child CPR/AED). Practice: One-hand compressions if needed. Emphasize early AED use. Scenario Practice: Parent finds child unresponsive — practice calling for help and starting CPR. 4. Video Module: Infant CPR (15 minutes) Play AHA video segment (Infant CPR). Practice: 2-finger chest compressions. Mouth-to-mouth-and-nose breaths. Scenario Practice: Baby stops breathing during nap — caregiver performs CPR. 5. Video Module: Choking Relief (10 minutes) Play AHA video segment (Adult, Child, Infant choking). Practice: Adult/child: Abdominal thrusts (Heimlich). Infant: 5 back blows + 5 chest thrusts. Instructor Demo & Student Practice with manikins or dolls. 6. Group Practice & Scenarios (20 minutes) Divide students into pairs or small groups. Practice full CPR cycle: Recognize emergency → Call for help → CPR → AED → Recovery position (if breathing). Run choking scenarios for adult, child, infant. 7. Review & Wrap-Up (10 minutes) Quick review: CPR basics: Push Hard, Push Fast, Use AED. Choking relief steps. Encourage students to practice regularly and refresh skills yearly. Answer questions. Provide participation certificates (if you issue them). ✅ Instructor Notes: Keep the pace moving; pause videos for discussion and skill practice. Rotate students so everyone gets hands-on practice with adult, child, and infant manikins. Reinforce calling 911 and using AED as first steps.
